IASIS

Mental health is a vital aspect of our overall well-being, and finding effective treatments is crucial for those struggling with mental health issues. We treat ages 3 and up.

One innovative approach gaining recognition is IASIS, a form of microcurrent neurofeedback. Here’s a closer look at what IASIS is and how it can benefit mental health.

IASIS has shown promise in treating a variety of mental health conditions, including:

  1. Anxiety and Depression: By helping the brain to regulate itself more effectively, IASIS can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, leading to improved mood and overall mental health.
  2. PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder): IASIS has been used to help individuals with PTSD by calming hyperactive brain activity and reducing the intensity of traumatic memories.
  3. ADD/ADHD: For individuals with attention deficit disorders, IASIS can enhance focus and cognitive function, making it easier to manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
  4. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): IASIS can assist in the recovery process for those with TBIs by promoting neuroplasticity and aiding in the healing of damaged brain tissue.
  5. Sleep Disorders: Improved brain regulation through IASIS can lead to better sleep patterns, helping individuals achieve more restful and restorative sleep.

What is Integrative Psychiatry?

Lori has been incorporating the field of integrative psychiatric into comprehensive evaluation.  This includes a conventional psychiatric evaluation (such as DSM-5, presenting problems, psychiatric history, medical history, etc), it also includes other important components.

She incorporates an evaluation of laboratory data (such as Vitamin B12, Folate, Vitamin D levels, Iron, etc.) from the perspective of optimal neurological functioning. In her treatment planning with you, she will not simply prescribe a medication and leave you to sort out the rest on your own, but will instead consider a wide variety of treatment options such as targeted nutritional supplements, diet optimization, referral to appropriate psychotherapy services and many others.

Lori will continue to meet with you along your journey to listen, explore new options, adjust your plan and collaborate with your care team.

Treating The Causes Not Just The Symptoms

This model employs the best of conventional psychiatry while eliminating the problematic aspects of conventional psychiatry which typically priotizes a focus on suppressing symptoms without addressing their root causes. Not exploring the causes of your symptoms is a recipe for an unfulfilled life and in some cases, an invitation for new problems, such as problematic medication side effects.

Some of the possible root causes that may be underlying problematic symptoms include: imbalances in the gut environment, unresolved emotional trauma, nutritional imbalances, genetic vulnerability, hormonal imbalances, environmental toxins, and chronic infections, to name a few.  This list can be admittedly overwhelming and often requires a team approach, such as an additional referral to a functional/integrative medical practitioner, to address root causes meaningfully.

The mission of Mindset & Body Reset is to help you assemble the right team so that you can live the most fulfilled life.
